Australian Government Department of Health – National Immunisation Program brand development
The Federal Government’s National Immunisation Program (NIP) protects all Australians from serious disease. Our challenge was to create a new look and feel for this vital service.
The brief
Carbon Creative was commissioned to create a new brand identity for the Federal Government’s National Immunisation Program. It needed to speak to a broad audience in order to support an important public health message.
The good
Our brand mark was inspired by our biological building blocks of life — molecules. These organic shapes represent the variety of programs and the broad spectrum of people that the NIP covers. It talks to both the present and the future, in terms of the way the NIP protects people now, as well as the next generation. We then turned this brandmark into a modern and flexible identity that easily works across a wide variety of collateral.
The impact
The molecular forms overlap and work together to create a strong circular shape to imply protection and forward planning, while giving the brandmark structure and dynamism. The circular shape demonstrates the strength of the NIP and suggests inclusiveness in providing vaccines for all Australians. The colour palette is cool and modern, making the brandmark approachable and strong, without losing the seriousness needed to portray the lifesaving work of the program itself.
collateral
After finalising the brand guidelines, we created a suite of printed collateral.

Supporting iconography and illustrations were also produced, animated and shared organically on social media.
